Good Marriage Protects Family

YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY! (Exodus 20:14). This commandment protects marriage and the family. When a man apart from the lifelong commitment of marriage engages in sexual intercourse with a woman, he is more likely to further dishonor her by physically abusing her. The offspring from such a relationship suffers even more. As David Blankenhorn documents in his book, FATHERLESS AMERICA, “We have too many boys with guns primarily because we have too few fathers.” Without the security of a father caring for his wife and supporting his children, boys in particular often turn to gangs for security, and from gangs to violence.
When this commandment is violated women suffer, children suffer, the whole nation suffers. Violence will escalate, the police force be strengthened, taxes must increase. When God speaks of repentance, He declares the evidence for repentance is “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children” (Malachi 4:6; Luke 1:17). Such a turn begins with a loving loyalty to their mother before they are conceived, and most certainly, if possible, after they are born. Such fathers will seek “to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). Come to Peace Lutheran Church to affirm with us God’s commandments.
